Jinguitou and Shetoushan are located on opposite ends of the island’s peninsula, looking at each other from afar while also keeping watch over the sea, guarding the quiet of the inner bay where the furthermost frontline of the national boundary lie. Its development, ruins and life in the village have been closely tied to military affairs. The front end of Jinguitou is where the largest pre-Qing artillery emplacement in Penghu is located, while the back end is where the military residential community of Juguang New Village and Duxingshi Village is located, thus creating a special military and living environment. Shetoushan is located at the Magong Fenggui end and together they keep watch over Magong Bay. Seventeenth century fortress ruins of the Dutch naval fleet and Japanese and French military memorials are
also here, making it a military culture corridor with
a strong sense of history.
